Across the Lake In Fall
As each leaf turned colors
Tightly grasping its mate
Long now, it wasn’t
It would soon meet its fate
There by the blue lake
Golden leafs color the ground
They moved on from yesterday
A new place to sleep sound
For fall brings about changes
Trees letting go of the past
Just like our faint memories
It’s not long do they last
The ground now is beautiful
The leaves have a new home
The weather will warm again
And new leaves will be sewn
This story is repeated
It continues year after year
The lake is the witness
This one thing stands clear
As we look at ourselves
We are just like the leaf
Basking days in the sunlight
If only a time that is brief
