A Place To Rest My Mind

The mountainside embraces
This trail that I wander
With serenades of birdsong
In shadows I ponder

My route painted in sparkles
From the canopy above
I traipse this woodland garden
Amongst the things I love

These weathered fenceposts
Fatigued by the years
Show me a path to follow
Into the sunset it steers

The last minutes of daylight
Cling to the forest leaves
While the wind’s gentle voice
Declares tomorrow’s dreams

And to burdens that I brought here
To a trail on a mountainside
Were compelled to surrender
So that I can rest my mind
