Feeling Blue (framed) - Original Watercolor Painting

Framed size - 15 1/2” x 13”
Artwork size - 10 3/8” x 7 7x8”

Softly, I ask, for why do I feel sorrow,
Is it from years that have passed,
Or could it be the time that I borrow?

Quietly, I ask, for why do I feel empty,
Is it from my mind that seeks peace,
Or is the beauty of a flower not plenty?

Faintly, I ask, for why do I feel weary,
Is it from the pursuit of my journey,
Or the endless burdens I still carry?

Lastly, I ask, for why do I feel blue,
Is it from my heart that is broken,
Or is it from when I trace back--
was when I lost you.

This watercolor was initially a side project to test out some new paper. I had not planned on the paint flowing as well as it did and it ended up turning out quite well. It’s probably one of my favorites because I had anticipated complete failure but an iris was born. The colors are very vibrant and accents of detail throughout. It has been dry-mounted on an archival mounting board, and framed. It’s protected behind a UV blocking/non-glare acrylic. The dry-mounting on the archival board allows the artwork to be removed from the board (if desired).

The artwork size is roughly 10 3/8” x 7 7x8” on standard watercolor paper. The framed size is 15 1/2” x 13”.
