And You Made Me Smile

$0.00

And You Made Me Smile - Original Oil Painting

Canvas size 18x24 (overall framed size is approximately 24x30)

…and for a little while, I was falling in love.

Keeping up with the same style that I’ve been using, but of a subject that I’ve tended to shy away from because of the complexity and little room for error. With a brush, it would be much easier, but with a palette knife in an impasto style, the paint is more difficult to control. Especially when it comes to blending colors. I’m happy that I pushed myself through it and I’m very pleased with the result. Enough so, that I felt the subject needed a name to have more of an identity. I love the name Ariel, so I’ll go with that. The title of the painting is a play on the A Flock Of Seagulls song (Space Age Love Song).

The deep grooves in the paint from the palette knife make the painting change appearance in different shades of light. This is one of the greatest benefits of painting like this. Two people can be looking at the painting at the same time, but get a different perspective, depending on the angle of the light.
