Those Three Words

A fortunate friendship of fate, two strangers we were.
We had so much in common, watching each hour then turn.
That huge smile when we met, I still recall your red face.
The special moments we shared, I’ll always remember the place.

And yet now we here are, extraordinary memories for two.
A day so inevitable that the truth finally soaked through.
The sweetest words I hear, from your lips now they are spoke.
Standing there in time, my little heart knows not it's broke.

Those three words, they construct such a powerful phrase.
Just seconds of sadness and this lost world can go change.
It was my life fulfilled, and all within the blink of an eye.
Oh, and the soft flowing tears as we both learned to cry.

"I hate you", you say, it's all that I've longed to hear.
For each hypnotic word, to my ears hold not a fear.
Now, I walk off in peace, with my heart lighter this day.
Knowing that you've given up, in the words that you say.

The beautiful times that we shared, I always enjoy each one.
We went into this without caution, until it all came undone.
So now comes the time, our separate lives we shall live.
We gave life a try, and sometimes that's all you can give.
