The Last Decision

Standing on a frozen sidewalk.
The night is as dark as it is cold.
All alone, as helpless as it gets.
My only company is a desolate road.

With one thousand ways to die.
Somehow I’ve found the one way to live.
Second guessing now my rash decision.
For it is the last thing I have to give.

If I could make things once again alright.
I’d give in without a seconds hesitation.
Wanting you to be back to your old self.
Content and confident of your situation.

Looking back, I know where it all fell apart.
Ashamed, I could not be more.
I let down the one soul I trusted in life.
Hurting the person I was born to adore.

I’m sorry that it’s all come down to this.
You know the one thousand I spoke of ago?
I realize now that number wasn’t set in stone.
With the line drawn, it’s time to let go.

The tears start streaming slowly down my face.
They will be the last sounds I’ll ever hear.
No more battles I’ll have to fight inside.
The world will be better now without me here.
