The Dream

Feeling weary, my eyes grow heavy, I decide the hours to be no more.
Silence waiting, thoughts are fading, a few small steps to the night hold true.
I stumble quietly, all intentions mighty, passing through the bedroom door.
My place of rest awaiting, this I'm anticipating, darkness soon blankets the room.

Ah - this body now resting, a laborious day of testing, these bones so sore, so sore.
Sheets of softness, they provide me my fortress, for a night of dreams come soon.
Sounds of rain fall softly, they'll carry me aloft and back through my bedroom door.
This time, my body won't carry me, only thoughts vicariously, into skies vividly blue.

Sleep first I'm needed, for dreams they'll be easing, easing into this mind I'm sure.
Thoughts are now empty, still I lay silently, waiting for my move from this room.
Rapidly it happens, no longer I'm napping, except my body which knows not to move.
Chaos and calm, both play along, while dreams crash in as waves to distant shore.

In an eerily dark field I'm soon standing, what is now happening, weird I've been here before.
Hands I tightly hold, it's of someone I've known, yet it's been not any time that soon.
"Don't be afraid", I'm told, "You won't be alone, as your journey this night sees more".
Empty I was feeling, their words subtract fear from my reeling, ready now let's move!

The time feels so strange, my mind knows neither night and or day, so goes this dreamy tour.
My watch shows only minutes, the hand of hours now missing, missing nothing more true.
My eyes see what's in front sured, but that which is not is blurred, arduous to explore.
Where I go next to seek peace, the dream holds the keys,  please be the skies vividly blue.

Oh skies vividly blue, my search longs for you, I will wander 'til mornings dawn, or light hits that shore.
I'm getting lost more in this sleep, dreams insanely they creep, strange it seems, yet it's what I do.
While wandering I will, a feeling it's starting to feel, this life within a life could be more, even more.
Slowly realizing it's happening to me, I see now what it's to be, asleep yet awake, never leaving my room.

Now that I know what to do, the body's limits no longer rule, a burning at my core translates a spirit to soar.
First, out my arms spread, I sprint straight ahead, next what I do, I witness gravity, it starts to lose.
Skies vividly blue, oh yes, I'm coming after you, this dream I'm starting to adore, yet a dream nothing more.
Awake I'll be soon, these skies vividly blue, will be a reminder too true of this wondrous minds grandeur.

The flight a feeling of joy plus more, this dream a story not sure, slowly waking now all senses pour.
I witnessed this night my skies vividly blue, I dreamed while I slept, but a night of sleep wasn't true.
I was awake, while eyes closed shut, my fortress of sheets, protection enough and nothing more.
A daze I numbly appear, windows light now starting to peer, sitting up now, what's the next move?

Rested I feel now, still not aware, these feet which just miles in the air, now softly on my bedroom floor.
What is real now, what is not, my mind will spend days to figure it out, what, why, what blue?
Ah - skies vividly blue! This is what I sought, my dream  and waking life now resolve the lore.
I leave my bed, a refreshed soul for sure, for skies vividly blue, you to me were more than true.
