Simply You

It’s not that I couldn’t
I just wouldn’t
When I said that I tried
It was clearly a lie
And yet, still here we are

It wasn’t that I knew better
My mind recalling your love letters
Each day a better dream
Sitting together eating our ice cream
And to me that’s just fine

For my heart often reminds me
That feeling of ecstasy to feel so free
When yesterday was all ours
‘Our time’, and the clocks hours to admire
Or until the skies come crashing down

At night I like awake missing you
The waking hours, often too few
This earth though shall give us the time
For me to be yours, and you to be mine
Never we’ll ask, for anything in return

And the delightful moments when we touch
My insignificant world swallows me up
Living each day, submerged by your love
The deluge of affection is never enough
Your soul has taken me over

I love you…
