I Remember How I Held You

I was a child
And you were likewise
I kissed your soft cheek
Looked into those eyes—
And forever, I knew

I knew of a love
A love unlike any other
We’d sit amongst butterflies
Watching as they’d hover—
And time, how it flew

As the years passed by
We’d look back and smile
Walking this earth together
Holding hands all the while—
That each day could be few

Now, much, much older
I miss dearly our endeavors
The love of a lifetime
Still believing in our forever—
And how I held you
